Terms of Service

Last updated: 6 September 2026

These terms govern your use of the FlipFluent app and website ("Service"). By signing up, you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use the Service.

1. The service

FlipFluent is a language-learning platform: flashcards, spaced-repetition drills, AI-generated practice decks, pronunciation feedback, and short stories at your level. We run on a best-effort SaaS basis — no uptime guarantee, no warranty of fitness for a particular purpose, but we work to keep the service reliable and improve it over time.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to register (older where local law requires).
  • Provide accurate sign-up info; you're responsible for keeping your credentials secret.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • One account per person, please.

3. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

  • Upload, generate, or share content that's illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or that infringes anyone's rights.
  • Reverse-engineer the Service, scrape it at scale, or attempt to circumvent rate limits.
  • Use the AI tutor or generation features to produce content that violates the model providers' usage policies (Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, Replicate).
  • Impersonate other users or misrepresent your affiliation.
  • Use automated systems to inflate stats, badges, or community engagement.

We can suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules.

4. Your content

Decks, cards, stories, and audio you create remain yours. By publishing a deck to the community library, you grant FlipFluent and other learners a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display + clone it. You can unpublish at any time; previously cloned copies stay with the cloners.

5. AI-generated content

FlipFluent uses third-party AI models (Gemini, GPT, Claude, FLUX, Imagen) to generate flashcards, images, and audio. Outputs may be wrong, biased, or include inaccuracies. Verify before relying on AI-generated content for anything beyond casual study.

6. Subscriptions and payments

Free tiers + paid tiers may be offered. Paid plans are billed through Apple App Store, Google Play, or Stripe (web). The relevant store handles payment, refunds, and renewal terms; we cannot directly refund app-store purchases. You can cancel any time; cancellation stops future renewals but doesn't refund the current period.

7. Intellectual property

The FlipFluent name, logo, app design, code, and AI orchestrator are ours. Don't reuse them outside the Service.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that learning FlipFluent will produce a specific fluency outcome — that depends on you.

9. Limitation of liability

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost progress data, opportunity cost, or emotional distress. Our total aggregate liability is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or USD 50 if you're on a free tier.

10. Termination

You may delete your account any time via Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete. We may terminate or suspend accounts for breach of these terms, long inactivity, or other legitimate operational reasons (we'll give notice where practical).

11. Changes

We may update these terms; the "Last updated" date will reflect the change. Material changes will surface in-app. Continued use after the effective date counts as acceptance.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the operator's registered jurisdiction. Disputes go to those courts unless local consumer-protection law overrides.
